RESOLUTION A/ES-11/L.1: The UN General Assembly adopted a resolution on Wednesday deploring ‘in the strongest terms the aggression by the Russian Federation against Ukraine’ in violation of the UN Charter and demanding that Russia ‘immediately cease its use of force’ against Ukraine.
At the emergency session of the General Assembly (02 Mar 2022), 141 member states voted in favor of the resolution, which required a two-thirds majority to pass, while 5 voted against and 35 abstained.

Ukraine war: What does banning 'selected' Russian banks from SWIFT mean?

Some Russian banks will be excluded from the international payments system SWIFT as part of increasing sanctions announced by the European Union, US, UK and Canada.
"We commit to ensuring that selected Russian banks are removed from the SWIFT messaging system. This will ensure that these banks are disconnected from the international financial system and harm their ability to operate globally," the European Commission said in a statement.
Ukraine's government had demanded a full ban on Russian access to the banking system following Russia's invasion of the country on February 24.

V. CONCLUSION AND MEASURES TO BE ADOPTED (PARAS. 78-85)
"The Court concludes from all of the above considerations that the conditions required by its Statute for it to indicate provisional measures are met. It is therefore necessary, pending its final decision, for the Court to indicate certain measures in order to protect the right of Ukraine that the Court has found to be plausible. The Court recalls that it has the power, under its Statute, when a request for provisional measures has been made, to indicate measures that are, in whole or in part, other than those requested.
In the present case, having considered the terms of the provisional measures requested by Ukraine and the circumstances of the case, the Court finds that the measures to be indicated need not be identical to those requested. The Court considers that, with regard to the situation described above, the Russian Federation must, pending the final decision in the case, suspend the military operations that it commenced on 24 February 2022 in the territory of Ukraine. In addition, recalling the statement of the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations that the “Donetsk People’s Republic” and the “Lugansk People’s Republic” had turned to the Russian Federation with a request to grant military support, the Court considers that the Russian Federation must also ensure that any military or irregular armed units which may be directed or supported by it, as well as any organizations and persons which may be subject to its control or direction, take no steps in furtherance of these military operations. . . "

The Russian Federation's use of banned weapons against Ukraine's unarmed, human civilian population are blatant violations of The Geneva Conventions and their Additional Protocols.
The Russian Federation's military attack against a nuclear power plant in the north-western part of Zaporizhzhia Oblast, a region located in the southeast of Ukraine on March 4, 2022 is a clear indication of Vladimir Putin's willingness to conduct illegal and reckless acts of "nuclear terrorism" against Ukraine's legitimate and peaceful existence.
